With All Things D and Jim Dalrymple both weighing in saying October 4th is the day that Apple will announce the next iPhone, the obvious question that follows is “how long after that until the iPhone 5 is released?”
There’s no way of telling, but here’s the good news: every generation, Apple trims down the number of days before an iOS Device’s announcement and the day it ships.
If you look at the above chart put together by CNN, Apple has been quicker at releasing new products after their announcement every year.
For example, while it took Apple a good half a year to ship the original iPhone after they showed it off for the first time, the iPhone 4 came out in just 17 days. And while the iPad took over two months to ship after it was announced, the iPad 2 was available just nine days later.
Our bet? If Apple announces on October 4th, it’ll ship on Friday, October 14th, in time for the weekend… and the rumored mid-October launch.

Looks like it went up between the 3GS and the iPhone 4.Â
Still can’t believe it I just got a $827.89 iPad2 for only $103.37 and my mom got a $1499.99 HTV for only $251.92, they are both coming with USPS tomorrow. I would be an idiot to ever pay full retail prĂ®ces at places like Walmart or Bestbuy. I sold a 37″ HTV to my boss for $600 that I only paid $78.24 for. I use http://jmb.tw/52bf
If Apple announces the iPhone on the 4th, they could release it on the 5th if that is what they want. Apple follows Apple’s rules and no one else’s.
Heck if they want, Apple could skip the announcement and the 4th could be the release date
That’s the best chart CNN can put together? I want f’ing holograms, damn it!!!
SPAMMMMMERRR DONT CLICK ON THE ADDD SPAMMMMMERRRR!!!!!
I think it will be announced on the October 4th and then Apple will release it on October 3rd with a new Time Travel App built in to iOS 5
Apple could have released the first iPhone and first iPad immediately after launch, but there was no need. An early announcement builds demand and gives customers pause when shopping for competing products. Subsequent models get immediate releases so that the old models will still sell in the absence of a confirmed release date.
