Each iDevice has a unique device identifier number. You can need your UDID for multiple reasons, including the beta testing of apps and other diagnostic processes.
We’ll show you how to quickly find your UDID.
Plug your iDevice into iTunes and click on it in the list of connected devices. In the Summary tap, you will see “Serial Number.” Click that area while also holding the Option key on your Mac. Your UDID will then be presented in an alphanumeric string.
You can copy and paste the number by hovering your mouse over the UDID and hitting Command + C. Your UDID will now be in your Mac’s clipboard.

I didn’t need to hold down the option key. I just clicked on it.
Also, if you click on Software Version you will be shown the build version, and if you click on Phone Number, you will cycle through to you’re IMEI and then you’re ICCID.
This article goes thorough too many unnecessary steps.
Yeah, all you have to do is simply click the serial # and your UDID shows. To copy just use Command + C and then you can paste it wherever you like. If anyone needs their UDID registered to use iOS 5 betas, check out http://bit.ly/jxaQgB
