Google’s long-awaited flagship smartphone, the Nexus 6, has finally been announced, and it’s a 5.9-inch gorgeous monster.
Nexus 6 will be the first device to ship with the new Android operating system Lollipop, so that you know you’re getting the the purest Android experience on the new phablet that’s so big, even the iPhone 6 Plus just got size envy.
In line with previous rumors, the Nexus 6 is basically a giant Moto X with some souped up specs powering it. To go with its 5.9-inch 2k display, the Nexus 6 also packs a snappy Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM. Storage starts at 32GB – unlike the 16GB of pittance on the baseline iPhone 6 Plus – but max storage is only 64GB.
The new Godzilla-sized phone is powered by a 3,200 mAh battery, with Motorola’s Turbo Charger technology built in, giving you 8 hours of battery life off of 15 minutes of charge time.
Not much has changed in the design of the Nexus 6 compared to the Moto X. It still has the dual speakers, ring flash, and aluminum trim, and the camera sensor is still 13MP, but it adds optical image stabilization for better low-light performance, which is basically a requirement now that the 6 Plus and Note 4 also have it.
Google will be selling unlocked version in the Play Store once pre-orders open up late in October, with devices expected to ship in November.
