Apple reportedly plans to launch a super-slim iPhone 17 model in 2025. The company is also working on slimming down MacBook Pro and Apple Watch in future revisions.

The company will seemingly focus on making its devices thinner without sacrificing performance or battery life.

Apple could launch a super-skinny iPhone in 2025

Over the last few years, Apple’s major product lineups have received upgrades focusing on functionality and longer battery life over slimness. With the 2021 MacBook Pro refresh, Apple increased the device thickness to fit a beefier battery. Similarly, the Apple Watch Ultra trades form over function, as its chunky design enables longer battery life.

This contrasted sharply with the company’s past focus on making iPhones and MacBooks as thin as possible, often at the expense of battery life and performance.

With the recent M4 iPad Pro, Apple appears to have cracked the code to make thin devices without affecting performance. The 2024 iPad Pro is the Cupertino giant’s thinnest product ever, yet it packs a powerful M4 chip.

For 2025, Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman claims Apple is working on a “significantly skinner” iPhone 17 for 2025. This corroborates recent rumors of an iPhone 17 “Slim” joining the lineup next year with a super-slim design. It’s unclear if the entire iPhone 17 series will get a waist size reduction or not, though.

Thinner MacBooks and Apple Watch also in the works

But that’s not it. In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman claims Apple is also working to “make the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch thinner.” The company wants to make its products thinnest and lightest in their respective categories.

So, if you were unhappy with iPhones and MacBooks getting heftier and thicker, their future revamps should make you happy.

While a thinner chassis might not affect performance or battery life, Apple might have to make other sacrifices on its devices in its pursuit of slimness.
