The adventure film Fountain of Youth just hit Apple TV+. It stars John Krasinski and Natalie Portman in a dangerous hunt for the legendary spring with the power to restore the lost youth of anyone who drinks from it. The adventure borrows from classics such as Indiana Jones and National Treasure.

It’s one of summer 2025’s most-anticipated films. Watch the two trailers to get a taste of the excitement, or dive in and watch now!

Fountain of Youth is one of summer’s most anticipated movies

Movie and TV search engine JustWatch used trailer views, adds to watchlists, page traffic and more to compile a list of the summer 2025 movies Americans are most interested in, and Fountain of Youth made the top 10. And unlike all the other films, a trip to the theater isn’t necessary to watch it on the premiere day. It’s the one streaming-only film on the list — a standout accomplishment.

The most anticipated movie this season is Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning by a wide margin. It’s followed on JustWatch’s list by Jurassic World: Rebirth and Lilo & Stitch. Plus, 28 Years Later, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps made the list, too.

Real archaeology is about excruciatingly careful examination of ruins, looking for the slightest clues about lost civilizations. The movie version of archaeology is best demonstrated in Indiana Jones films and features gunfights and high-speed car chases as daredevil archaeologists foil the fiendish plots of supervillains. Both the trailers Apple TV+ released for Fountain of Youth makes it clear which one it offers — which is good because real archeology isn’t exciting to watch.

The movie follows the adventures of two estranged siblings, played by John Krasinski and Natalie Portman. It seems the brother found clues leading to the Fountain of Youth but needs his sister’s help unraveling them. Together, they’ll use their knowledge of history on what Apple TV+ promises will be “an epic adventure that will possibly lead to immortality.”

They won’t be simply wandering around in Florida like Ponce de León supposedly did. “One story, five continents, dozens of cultures over thousands of years ,” says Krasinski in the first trailer. That’s accurate, as myths of a miraculous spring that restores youth date back at least to the 5th century BC Greece, and perhaps farther. Which explains why scenes from the upcoming Apple TV+ film are set in the Egyptian Pyramids, Rome, and other exotic locations.

No film of this type is complete without a villain, and it seems Stanley Tucci takes on this role for Fountain of Youth. In the trailer, he says ominously, “There’s a reason the Fountain was hidden. He can’t succeed.“

The second trailer shows that Krasinski‘s character has been stealing paintings from art museums, looking for ancient clues deliberately hidden in them. That should sound familiar to fans of the National Treasure films.

Both trailers use U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” as the musical theme.

In front of and behind the camera

John Krasinski is best known for starring in the popular TV sitcom, The Office, and won a SAG Award for the role. More recently, he’s become a more intellectual action hero, starring in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan series.

Natalie Portman needs no introduction. From the Star Wars prequels to V for Vendetta to Thor, she’s become a screen legend. Despite a willingness to appear in action movies, she won an Oscar for Black Swan and starred in the drama Lady in the Lake on Apple TV+ in 2024.

Also in the Fountain of Youth cast are Eiza González, Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso and Carmen Ejogo, plus the aforementioned Stanley Tucci.

Guy Ritchie directed the film. He previously directed the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film, the live-action version of Aladdin, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., and much more.

Fountain of Youth premieres on Apple TV+ in May
