Final Cut Pro X To Hit Mac App Store Next Week For $299?

Reports are mounting that Apple is planning on launching the new version of Final Cut Pro as soon as next week. Following the leaked screenshots of Final Cut Pro X that hit the web last week, one Japanese blog now says that Apple will release its professional video production software as soon as next week.

According to Macotakara, Apple will release Final Cut Pro X on the Mac App Store next week costing $299, alongside some new Thunderbolt-equipped accessories that will launch on third-party vendors, specifically for use with Final Cut Pro X.

The timing’s right: Apple showed off Final Cut Pro X back in April, claiming it would be out in June. As an amateur, I’m more interested in what and when Final Cut Express will hit the Mac App Store, and what it will cost when it does.

Looking forward to the whole package. With Motion, Soundtrack pro, ect. I’m a prof filmmaker and I love to work with Final Cut.

Now, if that turned to be true, that would blow the socks of this industry. Professional video, audio and special effects tools at consumer prices. WOW.

Well, Apple promised a release in June, so let’s keep those fingers crossed!

I’ve been trading in old electronics at Radio Shack to get iTunes store credit =]

    First para is superfluous.

However I’m really looking forward to FCPX!

$299 is for FCP only. No Suite apps for that price.

One the one hand, by pushing everything to App Store exclusives, they’re making it very difficult, if not impossible, for corporate and higher-education customers to purchase the software — unless they’re going to develop a way to accept purchase orders via the App Store.

On the other hand, I do like that they’re separating the apps out, though, for FCPX. Of my six suites, I have four that really don’t need Motion, DVD Studio or Compressor. And, none of my suites really need Soundtrack, as all of our final audio post is done in ProTools.

BTW, based on what I’ve seen of FCPX and it’s workflow-merger with the new iMovie (and with some of the power that’s been infused into the new iMovie), FCE may be a thing of the past…

Dude, there’s not gonna be a Final Cut Express! The price point of the new FCP X is clearly aimed to conquer the editing market as a whole, one version only- totally Apple style. I’ll tell you more: they not only want to get the whole market but expect to convert a huge group of users that run the software on other’s license(…) into paying costumers, the same thing they will do for music with the iCloud match thingy (all the songs people have been sharing through p2p for years are gonna finally genarate legit income for the record labels! Who could ever think that could be possible…)

No Final Cut Express is coming out.  It’s all Final Cut Pro now.  (iMovie is pretty much taking over the Express version.)  If you haven’t checked out iMovie ’11, I highly encourage you to.  Beside that it lacks multiple video tracks, it’s great.

They specifically said in the FCP reveal at NAB that there will be no more FCE – they said something about fragmentation and deciding that FCP should be the only tool available. At $299 it’s a steal anyway, and, with iMovie there’s no point in Apple having 3 separate video apps under development! I imagine like the guys below that Motion/Compressor/Soundtrack Pro etc will be available as separate downloads, just as they have split up iWork into it’s separate components now. Although I doubt there will be a new version of these released at the same time. I spoke to a guy in the Apple store who mentioned a date of the 20th June – this roughly tallies with the 21st rumours.

This is all included in new Final Cut Pro X btw.  Isn’t it great?  Its one of the things they have kept under wraps, but all that will be in there.  I can’t wait.

  13. Buddy Couch says:

You are incorrect sir.  Final Cut Pro X has Motion / DVD Studio / Compressor.  Its all in there.  There is updated information out there for you to check out.  Google is your friend.

  14. Buddy Couch says:

Final Cut Pro X has all the studio stuff inside.  Since you guys have posted these inquiries 5 days ago, I would assume by now you have seen the updated information.  If you have not, rejoice my friends.  Its all there for $299.00  Isn’t that awesome?
