Dropbox — our favorite cloud-based storage solution next to the iCloud — has been hinting that it wants to be a major presence in the online photo gallery business, and now they’ve taken another step towards that goal, purchasing photo sharing and organizing tool Snapjoy for an undisclosed amount.
What’s Snapjoy? It’s a tool that pulls in photos from your digital cameras, smartphones, tablets, social networks, apps or libraries on your PC and Mac, then makes it easy to share both publicly and privately. There’s user profile support, full screen slideshows, full album downloads and more.
Snapjoy came to the iPhone back in October, and it’s been a wel-received app. Unfortunately, now that Snapjoy is part of Dropbox, that means the former has temporarily frozen sign-ups, so if you don’t already have a Snapjoy account, you won’t be able to use the service until it’s fully integrated with Dropbox’s empire.
