Finnish developer and all-around success story Rovio Entertainment announced Monday a new cross-over collaboration with Korean-based GungHo Entertainment, the makers of the almost as highly successful match-three mobile game, Puzzles and Dragons.

The pissed-off avians will show up in the popular role-playing/color matching mashup as an Angry Birds-themed dungeon from November 18 through December 1 of this year. You’ll get to challenge the Angry Birds as enemies in the dungeon, in contrast to their hero role in the Rovio-produced titles.

Angry Birds is one of the most recognizable entertainment franchises in the world,” said Puzzles & Dragons creator Daisuke Yamamoto in a statement, “and we are thrilled to be working alongside Rovio to give our fans a look at what it would be like if Angry Birds characters invaded the world of Puzzle & Dragons.”

Both companies are raking in the cash via in-app purchases, game downloads, and associated licensed merchandising, a business model Rovio popularized early on. While Angry Birds still tops the list of most successful mobile games, GungHo’s Puzzle & Dragons is on its way to making $1 billion per year, with over 20 million downloads in Japan alone, though it hasn’t taken off quite as quickly here in the US.

In addition to this Angry Birds crossover, GungHo recently partnered with DC Comics to produce a similar limited-time themed dungeon for Batman: Arkham Origins. The publisher also teamed up with SuperCell in the past to provide Clash of Clans-themed dungeons, too.
