To the delight of their many fans like me, the Garvey women of Ireland will return soon in Bad Sisters season two, Apple TV+ said Monday. The streamer offered a “first look” photograph along with scant plot details. The darkly comedic drama’s creator and star, Sharon Horgan, returns with her close-knit fictional siblings on November 13.
But with one abusive husband down in season one of Bad Sisters, what new nemesis will emerge in the sophomore season? From the sound of it, two years after they took care of that problem in white-knuckle fashion, it could be them against everybody. Because they’re not in the clear yet.
Bad Sisters returns for season 2 on Apple TV+ on November 13
From Emmy Award nominee and BAFTA Award-winning executive producer and star Horgan, the eight-episode Bad Sisters season two debuts on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Wednesday, November 13. One episode follows weekly on Wednesdays through December 25. The photo Apple TV+ dangled Monday offers few clues about the season, other than the sisters looking determined and unified at an outdoor banquet table.
A bunch of family photos appear as if hung out to dry on a clothesline behind them, oddly enough. Perhaps season two’s challenges will strain family relations even more than the first season’s did. (The riotous first season of Bad Sisters earned it a spot on our list of the best comedies on Apple TV+.)
Along with Horgan, the new season brings back Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson. New additions to the show’s cast include Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward and Peter Claffey.
Bad Sisters season 2 plot update
Here’s the streamer’s description of the show, its new season and its cast:
Bad Sisters season two returns to follow the lives of the Garvey sisters played by Sharon Horgan as Eva, Anne-Marie Duff as Grace, Eva Birthistle as Ursula, Sarah Greene as Bibi and Eve Hewson as Becka. Two years after the “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, the close-knit Garvey sisters may have moved on, but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.
A delicious blend of both dark comedy and thriller, the critically acclaimed series welcomes new and returning cast in its second season including Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, Michael Smiley, Saise Quinn, Daryl McCormack, Yasmine Akram, Jonjo O’Neill, Peter Claffey, Deirdre Mullins, Lorcan Cranitch, Liz Fitzgibbon and Justine Mitchell.
