Tim Cook just took Apple into uncharted waters with a new product that could completely redefine the smart watch category, but when he took the stage, Tim says he Steve Jobs was on his mind.
Minutes after the keynote closed, Tim Cook met up with ABC News’ David Muir and said that he thinks Jobs was smiling down on the event, and would be incredibly proud to see what the company is doing today. Cook also talked a little bit about the development of the Apple Watch, revealing that it’s the first post-Jobs device Apple has released.

We all knew Jobs had nothing to do with this! Samsung’s watch looks better than this, not to mention the countless others for a fraction of the cost!!
It’s like Apple threw something at the wall just to see if it would stick. Cook has left his imprint with this announcement and this is by far the worst of them all..
I try not to judge books by their covers.I will wait to use it and see how it feels first before I go and judge this watch.
Hey troll… What do you actually know about this watch?
that he wants it but his mommy won’t buy it for him.
Totally wrong. Steve Jobs laid down a clear framework of ideas for the next decade, and this watch was part of that. Walter Isaacs stated as such after Jobs death. Now go back under your bridge, or Samescum HQ, same thing really.
So I guess Tim Cook saying yesterday they started working on the watch after Jobs died is a lie then? Know what your talking about before you post. Your cave awaits you!
First post-Jobs device, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t involved. Hard to believe it went from idea to intro in 3 years; whereas the iPhone & iPad were both in development for 5+ years before introduction.
Correct. Steve Jobs biographer stated that Steve had laid down a framework of his ideas for at least the next decade. This watch was part of that framework.
I think that’s fairly obvious. It doesn’t look at all like something Jobs would have approved. Hardware and software wise it feels cluttered and unclean. Rather than start off slow and doing it right, they tried to add every feature under the sun regardless of how well it came out. There are definitely some cool features and ideas in this project, but overall the first product is messy, and not very attractive.
Even if Steve had left a roadmap that included a watch, there’s a difference in discussing or planning it and actually developing a real product. Jony needed Steve as his other half to great design. Steve kept things clean and minimal which this product is not. I’ll look forward more to what they can learn and improve on with this product and be more interested in the next iteration.
