The fourth generation Apple TV is set to start shipping next week and Apple just added three new channels to the device’s lineup to boost its offerings.
New channels were added to Apple TV this morning for CBS All Access, Made to Measure, and finally NBC, which is the last of the major networks to joining the Apple TV lineup.
NBC’s new channel gives customers access to full episodes of NBC shows. A cable subscription is required to view some of the shows and other features, but a lot of content on the channel can be viewed without a subscription.
If you need one more video streaming service to subscribe to, CBS All Access gives viewers the option to access all of CBS’s content for $5.99. It’s pretty much the only way to watch full episodes of shows like The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in their entirety on Apple TV.
CBS All Access all includes 7,500 episodes of CBS shows on demand, and gives Apple TV users access to new episodes of shows the day they air. Some areas also support Live TV for local CBS stations. You can sign-up for a free trial in the app to see if it’s truly worth it.
The new Made to Measure channel (M2M) is exclusive to Apple TV. It focuses mostly on the fashion world with interviews with top designers, documentaries, and short videos created by the talent agency WME/IMG.

I’m assuming US only :(
I really hope the BBC iPlayer makes its way into the new Apple TV
I love my Apple TV and do plan to upgrade but isn’t it a bit pointless to have to have a cable subscription to view content. I mean if I have the cable subscription I will just watch it on cable… I wish all parties (I know it is coming) will just stop being so greedy and come to terms with some sort of streaming package for the Apple TV that is much more flexible than what current subscription services offer. I currently pay for a package with over 300 channels and I only watch about 10. Time to cut the cord. Anyone else remember when TV was free for the end user???
Screw CBS! All the other networks have free access and they want to charge $6? No thanks!
Not exactly. I’m pretty sure CBS is charging because they are the only one that doesn’t require you to have a cable or satelite setup, like all others do. This is actually a great thing since it paves the way for cord cutters.
I can’t wait to delete the Fashion Channel…
I think if Xfinity or DirecTV tosses there iPhone/iPad version of their app on the new Apple TV it will be a game changer. It will allow users to take the cable box with them and throw it up on the big screen. Well worth the $149 right there.
Really curious to see what content is available in other countries… Canada can’t even pre-order the Apple TV itself yet.
