iPhone trade-in values get a boost from now through June 18 when you turn over your old iPhone online or in an Apple Store, the Cupertino tech giant said Friday. The monetary increases are modest, but hey, every dollar counts. So now, or anytime Apple raises iPhone trade-in values, is the time to refresh your handset with a shiny new one from the iPhone 16 lineup.
Apple boosts iPhone trade-in values for a limited time
Apple’s limited-time promotion raising iPhone trade-in values runs through June 18, according to the Apple website’s iPhone trade-in webpage. Perhaps it’s an effort to jack up sales in these uncertain times, as President Trump threatened Apple Friday with an additional 25% tariff on iPhones if Cupertino doesn’t shift manufacturing to the United States.
Apple increased the trade-in values, but not by a huge amount. For example, if you trade in an iPhone 15 Pro Max, you get up to $650. The usual maximum value is $630. The increases span anywhere from $5 to $30 going back to iPhone 8, with the majority in the $10 to $20 range.
On the high end, you can get up to $30 more for your iPhone 12 (iPhone 12 previously up to $170, now up to $200; iPhone 12 Pro was up to $220, now up to $250).
So, say you’re currently rocking an iPhone 11. Now you can get up to $150 for it in trade (previously up to $130). So now’s the perfect time to upgrade to an iPhone Series 16 phone — maybe Phone 16e, Apple’s most-recent handset release. Cult of Mac’s reviewer, D. Griffin Jones, loved it. “The phone’s light weight and clean rear design made me happy every time I picked it up, in a way I haven’t felt since my iPhone 5s,” he said.
And if you do go the iPhone 16e route, of course you’ll want to protect it with an awesome case. Alternatively, an Apple-certified refurbished iPhone 15 might hit the spot.
To find you handset’s current trade-in value, see the chart on Apple’s site. There you can also find a “Find your trade-in value” interactive tool that lets you enter your smartphone information to arrive at a dollar figure Apple says it’s worth in a trade.
