Apple is now selling DIY repair parts for its M4-equipped Macs, including the MacBook Pro and Mac mini.

You can purchase the repair parts from Apple’s Self Service Repair Store in the US and Europe.

Apple Self Service Repair program now supports the newest Macs available

Apple announced the Self Service Repair program in November 2021, enabling customers to get their hands dirty and repair their iPhones or Macs. They can order replacement parts and the required tools directly from the company.

Over time, the company has added new products to the program, typically a few months after launch. The M4 Macs launched in late October 2024, and its replacement parts are going on sale about three months later.

As part of its latest refresh, Apple’s Self Service Repair website now sells replacement parts and repair tools for the following Macs:

  • MacBook Pro with M4/Pro or M4 Max
  • M4 iMac
  • M4/Pro Mac mini

You can also get the necessary repair manuals from Apple’s support website, making the whole DIY repair job easier. Still, you should try self-repairing your Mac only if you have the required experience. Otherwise, it is best to take it to an authorized Apple service provider or an independent repair shop.

Send the defective part to Apple for recycling

Note that, like authorized service providers and Apple stores, you can send the faulty and replaced part to Apple for recycling. In some cases, you may also receive a store credit for this.

As part of the Self Service Repair program, you also get access to a diagnostic tool. It will let you”test products for optimal parts functionality and performance, and it helps identify which parts may need repair.”
