Apple Music and chill, anyone? Apple has started rolling out a new Apple Music feature called “My Chill Mix,” designed to select music from the songs and genres you dig and present them to you in a calming playlist.

Apple has reportedly started rolling out the new mix to users, although it’s not going to be available to all users right away. Instead, Apple will make it available to users over time, presumably filtered by geographical location (although it would be pretty neat if it was done by whoever Apple’s algorithms told it was in most dire need of chilling out.)

Jim Dalrymple over at The Loop was the first person to write about it, and noted that his own personalized playlist is a combination of both songs he knows and ones he doesn’t — meaning that My Chill Mix is as much a discovery tool as it is a way of filtering your existing faves.

My Chill Mix will appear alongside the existing My Favorites Mix and My New Music Mix at the top of Apple Music’s For You section when it’s available in your area.

Alongside Apple’s continued push into original content as part of the Apple Music subscription, features like this are another way for Apple to try and compete with the likes of Spotify for users’ attention — and subscription dollars.
