Apple could sell 20 million iPad 2 tablets the next quarter, more than doubling last quarter’s 9.25 million iPads snapped up by consumers. According to an industry publication, the tech giant may sell 25.5 million iPads during the second half of 2011, a 76 percent increase over the first half of this year.
“For the third quarter, Foxconn is expected to ship 20 million units of iPad 2 to Apple, a growth of 60 percent sequentially,” DigiTimes reported Thursday. In the past, Apple executives said iPad sales have been limited only by their supply.
Additionally, Apple is expected to contribute 40 million of the 65.2 million tablets DigiTimes researchers forecast to ship in 2011, or 61 percent of the market. During the first half of 2011, tablet shipments jumped 420 percent over 2010.
In a sign of how important Apple orders are to Foxconn, the Cupertino, Calif. customer is expected to be the firm’s “major growth driver” during the second half of this year, according to the publication.

I think you mean Apple might ship 45.5 million iPad 2’s for the 2nd half of 2011.
If Apple really does sell 20 million units this quarter then they will be on track to easily sell 50 million units for all of 2011. TheNewReign is correct, Apple might even sell close to 50 million units for the 2nd half of 2011.
That would be absolutely astonishing and the iPad would already be in full iPod style category domination mode.
