Adding AppleCare+ coverage to your iPhone 6s is going to cost you a little more extra this year. Apple didn’t announce any pricing changes on stage at yesterday’s event, but the company did update its website to reflect the higher prices, and not only will iPhone 6s owners have to pay more to buy AppleCare+, they’ll also be charged more for service fees.

AppleCare+ for both the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will cost $129.99, providing two years of coverage if you happen to accidentally break your device. The price of service fees has been raised as well from $79 to $99, each time you need an iPhone replacement.

While Apple’s boosted the price of AppleCare+ the company is making iCloud storage more affordable. iOS users can get 50GB of cloud storage for only $0.99 a month now. The previous lowest plan only offered 20GB for the same price. For those that need more data, you can get 200GB for $2.99 a month, or 1TB for $9.99.

The increase in AppleCare+ pricing is likely due to the cost of new technology in the iPhone 6s. Tim Cook boasted at yesterday’s event that the iPhone 6s is the most advanced smartphone ever created. With new features like a 3D Touch display, Taptic Engine, and super fast processor.

For those that don’t want to play the $130 upfront fee there are other options though. Apple also introduced the iPhone Upgrade Program which will allow you to pay for your iPhone 6s in payment installments, and it includes the price of AppleCare+ in the monthly fee.

When is this to take effect. I just checked the iCloud storage prices via the iCloud Settings on the phone and the old prices and storage limits are still in place.

No clearer indication could be given by Apple, that its expects its future products to be less reliable.

Great slash the prices on unneeded cloud storage and raise the prices on necessary apple care, fantastic.

unneeded by you does not mean it’s unneeded by everyone… I welcome the 50 GB’s as I need it Please with these foolish comments man… The price is going up because it probably cost more to repair the newer technology…

Thats bs, as they’re still selling the new phones for the same set prices as ever. Just trying to squeeze more profits out. Even if its cheap I’d rather pay once for more local storage on my phone (128GB 6Plus) than have any additional monthly service bill.

Maybe one day Apple will target all its development and marketing efforts directly and solely to meet YOUR needs.

Geez relax, I’m not the only person that doesn’t care about cloud storage. I just prefer to own my storage rather than rent.

Just because you don’t need cloud storage doesn’t mean other people don’t want it, and just because you need Apple Care+ doesn’t mean other people want it.
