Apple’s smallest tablet is allegedly about to get the redesign so many people have hoped for. The screen bezels in the 2021 iPad mini will shrink significantly, supposedly allowing the display to increase to over 9 inches and become nearly edge-to-edge.
The computer will also reportedly get in-screen Touch ID and a hole-punch camera.

The next iPad mini could be a bit less mini. Apple reportedly will expand the tablet from a 7.9-inch screen to an 8.4-inch one in the version coming in Q1 2021.
If true, the change would hardly be unprecedented. Apple has enlarged the displays in all other iPad models in recent years.
Apple today unveiled its four-day shopping event that kicks off on Black Friday. The company is offering gift cards of up to $150 when you buy select products, including iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac.
The event runs through Monday, November 30, but it excludes some of Apple’s newest products — such as iPhone 12 and the new iPad Air.
The iPad mini has a 7.9-inch screen surrounded by bezels. Big ones. So a concept artist drew up some images that show how much smaller this tablet could be with an edge-to-edge display. The result is a device that’s nearly 20% smaller.
But Apple might be going in the opposite direction: making a mini with a larger screen.
Pick up Apple’s newest iPad mini today and enjoy a generous $135 off the usual price. The discount — the biggest we’ve seen so far on this model — applies to the 64GB iPad mini with Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity, which is now just $394.
Apple will launch a new 10.8-inch iPad during the second half of 2020, followed by a new iPad mini that’s between 8.5-inches and 9-inches during the first half of 2021, according to a report released Thursday by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Amazon significantly upped the specs of the latest Fire 8 tablet, with a faster processor, more storage, USB-C and even wireless charging. But how does this inexpensive 8-inch slate stack up against the 7.9-inch iPad mini 5 released in 2019?
B&H Photo just dropped the biggest discount we’ve seen so far on Apple’s new 2020 MacBook Air. You can save $100 on yours for a limited time only.

Face it: Apple’s probably never going to make a touchscreen Mac. It’s definitely never going to make a touchscreen Mac that looks like the 1986-era Macintosh Plus.
Fortunately, engineer and Mac fan Travis DeRose has stepped up to the plate to show us what such a glorious amalgamation of concepts would look like — by building what essentially amounts to a Mac Plus case for his iPad mini. No, it’s not particularly practical, but it is neat looking. Check out his video below.
Apple is offering laughably low trade-in rates for old iPad Pro models. You can make a maximum of $240 if you have a high-end device with bags of storage that’s still in good condition. But 2018 iPad Pro models are worth a lot more than that.
Cult of Mac will pay you up to $300 for a base model 11-inch iPad Pro with just 64GB of storage. That figure rises to $400 for a 512GB model, while a 12.9-inch iPad Pro can earn you as much as $500.
This could slash the price of your upgrade to a new drool-worthy 2020 iPad Pro by more than half! Get a quote from us today and find out how much your old iPad is really worth.

Apple surprised Wall Street with a better-than-expected Q2 earnings report this afternoon and one of the biggest factors was the iPad.
With revenues topping $58 billion Q2 (down 5% YoY), Apple is trying to become less reliant on its iPhone business. Apple’s efforts to make the iPad as thin as possible mean that their fragile aluminum frames have been known to bend easily. But the new iPad mini holds up surprisingly well in a brutal bend test.
Unlike its larger siblings, the fifth-generation slate remains perfectly intact when shaped to look like a banana.
The Urban Armor Gear Metropolis is line of lightweight but protective folio cases for a range of Apple tablets. As of today, that includes the just-released iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5.
These cases offer MIL-SPEC drop protection and can securely hold an Apple Pencil. They also function as stands, naturally.
The new iPad Air has suffered a customary teardown after finding its way into the hands of iFixit.
As expected the device shares a lot in common with the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. But if you look closely, you’ll find Apple has made a whole bunch of big changes that make this more of a mid-range iPad than a smaller flagship.
Here’s what was found under its hood.
The fifth-generation iPad mini has started making its way into the hands of early adopters. One unlucky unit ended up with iFixit, which has already torn it apart to show us what’s inside.
Unsurprisingly, it’s not a whole lot different to its predecessor. But there are plenty of new chips and components under the hood.
Apple’s newest tablets just started reaching the hands of consumers, but there are already several cases available for the iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 5, including keyboard cases in multiple designs. There are options now from Zagg, Brydge and Apple itself.
While not yet available, rugged-case maker OtterBox is designing products for these slates.
