My son got his Macbook Pro infected with adware when he took it to the Genius bar for a hardware problem (Shame on Apple). The machine became nearly unusable after that, but Adware Medic saved the day. I fully endorse this article. :)
I call bullshit. They’re hardly actual geniuses but they don’t put viruses on machines. But daddy dearest will believe anything the little apple of his eye tells him. ‘No daddy she wanted to have sex in that alley with me! And then she fell!’
You can call all the bullshit you want, but you don’t know what you’re talking about, Mr. Apple Fanboy. First of all I am a software developer with 25+ years of experience including Unix, Windows, Mac and iOS programming so I happen know a little bit about how computers work.
Second, I never claimed that they put the adware there on purpose, but their sloppy network security allowed it to happen. The fact is that the computer had no adware that morning, and after we got it back from the Apple store in the afternoon it was infected.
Could it have happened right before or after? Highly unlikely, since we don’t have Wi-Fi in the car.
Your son was probably downloading pirated software and infected his machine himself.
Adware can be hidden in anything without your knowledge. Most common is video players from sites that insist you need their video plugin to view videos. And not only porn sites either.
Nope. No pirated software or video. The machine was clean when we took it to the Apple store and it was infected after we got it back. Simple as that.
I have used it just recently and it is legit. I got overzealous clicking to install a driver update and inadvertently downloaded adware while not paying attention. I couldn’t even open Safari because it caused it to instantly crash. Adware Medic got rid of it in a snap. Just had to go in and reset my default homepage.
Shame on apple? Youre funny. Teach your kid not to steal pirated items from internet. LOL
This is a great app. Go onto his blog, he writes interesting articles. His one on Mackeeper is eye opening. Worth a visit.
