The portable SSD you’ve been wanting is probably available at well below the usual cost. There are top-quality ones available at way below their list prices — we found deals on portable SSDs from Samsung, Kingston and more. Save up to 48%!

Even if you didn’t do your shopping during Amazon Prime Day last week,  you can still easily increase the storage capacity of your Mac, iPad, etc. without over-stressing your credit card.

Why you want a portable SSD

A portable SSD is a great addition to your Mac, iPad, iPhone… or all three. It’s an easy way to add storage space without having to buy a whole new computer. Maybe your older Mac is jammed full, but its performance is good so you don’t want to replace it. Plug in a portable SSD and add years to its useful life.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t make it easy to upgrade the storage capacity of any of its products. An external drive is often the only option besides buying new computer.

While a potable SSD isn’t quite as convenient as a built-in one, it’s not that big a hassle. Offload a bunch of files you don’t use everyday to free up space on your computer. You have access to them again simply by plugging the portable SSD into a USB-C port.
