9iPhone 16e owners can easily add an inexpensive MagSafe sticker to make up for Apple leaving this magnetic connection system out of its new handset. Adding MagSafe improves wireless charging and opens the doors to magnetic stands, power banks and clip-on wallets.
Android users frustrated that they can’t take advantage of great accessories designed for iPhone can use one of these stickers, too.
Here’s our buying guide to the best MagSafe stickers we found.
MagSafe sticker: Why you want one
In its most basic form, Apple’s MagSafe system for iPhones significantly improves wireless charging with magnets that align and hold the handset and charger together. No more worries about the handset slipping a bit so charging stops. But that’s only the start. The same magnets can connect an iPhone to a stand or allow a wallet to cling to the handset.
Many companies make MagSafe-compatible accessories. Apple is only one of a multitude. (Read our roundup of the best MagSafe chargers and cables.) However, the iPhone must have magnets to use these — either built-in or added via a MagSafe sticker.

iPhone 16e (mostly) lacks MagSafe
Apple invented MagSafe and built it into almost all of its handsets released since 2020. It doesn’t come in budget models, though, because Apple must leave out some features to keep costs down. So both the iPhone SE line and the new iPhone 16e lack the magnetic connection system.
That’s not exactly the end of the story, though. The 16e offers basic wireless charging — it just doesn’t include the magnets that give MagSafe its name. Still, MagSafe chargers do cling to the charging mat built into the iPhone 16e — but very weakly. That’s the result of the magnets in the charger connecting to ferrous metals in the iPhone.
So while the iPhone 16e gets some small advantage from Apple’s MagSafe charging puck, it won’t sufficiently cling to MagSafe stands, wallets, etc., to make those accessories useful. For that, you need a MagSafe ring.
Also note that wireless charging of the iPhone 16e tops out at 7.5 watts. Pricier models with MagSafe built in go up to 15 watts and more. No accessory can change that. A MagSafe sticker only adds the magnets that allow for easy use with accessories
Add a MagSafe sticker to your iPhone or Android
As noted, what makes MagSafe special (aside from the faster charging) is a ring of magnets around the charging mat. Some accessory makers use adhesive to stick these magnets to the iPhone. These accessories are called, logically enough, “MagSafe stickers.”
It’s a simple solution that works on iPhone models (and Android devices).
