Leonardo DiCaprio is the latest Hollywood star teaming up with Apple. His production company Appian Way reportedly signed a first-look deal with the iPhone maker.
This means the Apple TV+ streaming service gets the right of first refusal for all projects DiCaprio and co. dream up.
This doesn’t mean Apple automatically owns any shows the Appian Way comes up with, however. But Apple TV+ gets the opportunity to buy the rights to new projects before they can be offered to any rivals, like Netflix or Amazon.
Over the years, Appian Way has released a number of hits, including award winners like The Revenant, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Aviator. It was founded by DiCaprio and is currently run by Jennifer Davisson.
One of many Apple TV+ deals
Apple already signed similar first-look agreements with Ridley Scott’s production company, and one with Idris Elba’s too.
Perhaps DiCaprio and Apple started talking on the set of Martin Scorsese’s next movie. The actor is set to star in Killers of the Flower Moon, which will appear on Apple TV+.
