The novel coronavirus continues to hurt the U.S. economy, with unemployment about 13%. With so many out of work, or earning far less than they usually do, Apple and Goldman Sachs are offering to let people people struggling financially because of the COVID-19 pandemic skip their July Apple Card payment without being hit with interest fees.
Apple Card Customer Assistance Program is here to help
Those with Apple’s credit card received their monthly statement on Wednesday, July 1. And it includes a note offering to help people who can’t make ends meet during this crisis.
“We understand that the COVID-19 situation poses unique challenges for everyone and some customers may have difficulty making their monthly payments,” says the statement from Apple Card Support. “Should you need assistance, please click here to be connected to Apple Card Support via Messages and enroll in our Customer Assistance Program, which will allow you to skip your July payment without incurring interest charges.”
Tapping on “click here” in the email starts a discussion with Apple Support that says “I would like to enroll in the Customer Assistance Program.”
This is far from the first month that Apple and Goldman Sachs, the company that underwrites its credit card, have made this offer. It began offering to let some cardholders skip payments without interest in March, and has done so each month since.
