Apple Card owners who are impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have the option to skip their March payment without incurring interest.

In an email to customers, Apple said it understands that it may be difficult for some to keep up with their payments during the outbreak. The company is “committed to helping you lead a healthier financial life,” it added.

You must be aware, however, that you need to tell Apple if you don’t intend to pay this month.

“We understand that the rapidly-evolving COVID-19 situation poses unique challenges for everyone and some customers may have difficulty making their monthly payments,” Apple’s email, titled “We’re here to help,” reads.

The message comes as a growing number of people are being told to stay at home and businesses are closing to minimize the spread of coronavirus. The latest figures reveal there are now more than 169,000 cases worldwide.

Skip your Apple Card payment for March

If you do skip your Apple Card payment for March, you will not incur any interest charges, Apple confirmed. However, you can’t just ignore it; you need to tell Apple that you want to enroll in its Customer Assistance Program.

Fortunately, that’s easy. You can do it by contacting Apple Card Support via iMessage — just follow the steps in the YouTube video below. You do not need to speak to a customer support agent over the phone.

Apple has confirmed to some Card customers on Reddit that skipping your March payment will not affect your credit score. Your account will be reported as up to date and enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program.

It’s not clear if this program will be extended later. The COVID-19 situation shows no signs of improving anytime soon, so it seems likely Apple will later give Card customers some more time to pay up.
