Images which showed up on Twitter over the weekend depict what may be the new iPhone 12 series of handsets with both physical molds and CAD drawings.
As expected, this includes four different versions, rumored to include a 5.4-inch handset, two 6.1-inch versions, and a giant 6.7-inch edition. More importantly, though, the images showcase the handsets’ reported redesign — with flatter edges like the iPhone 4 or newer iPad Pro models.
Such molds are frequently used to help third-party case manufacturers to get ready new accessories. That way they can be ready for shipping as soon as Apple announces the new handsets. Front or rear details like the notch size (of which there have been different reports for the iPhone 12) don’t make a difference for iPhone cases.

As a result, they may not be accurate on these mockups since they are not particularly important for this job. The same is likely true for the exact placement of the camera and LiDAR sensor (for the iPhone 12 Pro) on the back of the handsets.
The CAD drawings and physical models were posted on Twitter by the CEO of JinStore. JinStore is an Apple Premium Reseller in New Zealand.
Redesigning the iPhone
The idea that the iPhone 12 generation of iPhones will feature a major redesign has been around since at least September 2019. “We predict that the new 2H20 iPhone design will change significantly,” wrote seasoned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo that month. Kuo claimed that Apple would adopt a design “similar … to the iPhone 4,” replacing the current one. Apple last redesigned the iPhone in 2017 with the iPhone X. It reintroduced squared-off edges with the 2018 iPad Pro.
