Having been in beta since September, Apple Music’s web app is finally fully up and running for all users.
The web app, found at music.apple.com site (no longer with the “beta” prefix), lets users listen to Apple Music content without using the dedicated app.
The overall experience of using Apple Music through the web is very similar to using the app. There are banners promoting new playlists and events like the upcoming “One World Together at Home” concert. When you’re playing songs, the options for playing and pausing a song are exactly the same.
There are also tabs for “For You,” “Browse,” and “Radio,” along with a search option for manually finding a particular song or artist. There’s additionally a Sign In button to allow existing subscribers to gain access to their music libraries. Finally, there’s a button that will open Apple’s standalone Music app.
Apple Insider was among the first to note the fact that Apple Music’s browser app was no longer in beta mode.
Taking the Apple Music web app out of beta comes at a time when Apple Music is experiencing renewed interest. As you might expect, streaming music services are proving to be one of the few services-related businesses growing during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s because people are stuck home with more free time for listening. Although Apple hasn’t released updated subscriber figures for a while, a recent report said there had been a surge of new subscribers last month.
