It hasn’t escaped Apple’s attention that the FIFA World Cup is going on. As part of the celebration, it’s released a trio of “Shot on iPhone” videos of people playing football/soccer on three continents.
This long-running campaign demonstrates the capabilities of iPhone cameras.
Apple didn’t say which model of its phones recorded each of these videos, which run for about two minutes. The “Shot on iPhone” series has been going on since the iPhone 6 was the hot new model.
Anyone inspired to film their next match should watch Apple’s recently-released series of soccer-themed tutorial videos offering iPhone X users some photography suggestions.
Berlengas Island Cup 2018
One of the new videos is set on Portugal. Off the cost, to be specific, on the Berlengas Islands. It shows just how far people will go for a good match.
Apple description says, “Berlengas Island Cup 2018. Rival teams refuse to play on the other’s pitch. They agree to play on neutral territory, the Berlengas islands off the Atlantic coast of Portugal, seven miles from the mainland. The Berlengas Island Cup 2018 hosts Baleal vs. Peniche. It’s a historic match to decide who is champion of the sea and soccer pitch.”
The Heart of Australia
The second just-released “Shot on iPhone” video is set in Australia’s Northern Territory. A group of Aboriginal girls talk about the influence of soccer on their lives.
The official description is “The Heart of Australia. Finding happiness through soccer, Aborigine girls embrace the sport to create new opportunities for themselves. We get a glimpse inside their cultural heritage and how the community preserves and celebrates its identity.
“We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land, the Ntaria people of the Arrernte nation and their elders past and present. We acknowledge the land on which we gather, Arrernte country.”
The ‘Wa’ of Soccer
The third new “Shot on iPhone” video was filmed in Japan. It features Buddhist monks exploring the philosophical ramifications of football.
“The ‘Wa’ of Soccer. A soccer match is an embodiment of life’s struggles in 90 minutes. A group of monks play to connect with the local community, keep fit, and respect the ‘wa’ — the peaceful unity and conformity within a social group,” reads Apple’s description.
