Continuing his “tradition” of showing off the latest iPhone before it’s been introduced, Taiwanese actor and singer Jimmy Lin has been photographed using what appears to be a new iPhone 7 Plus, complete with its rumored dual-lens camera and LED flash.
Lin previously managed to get his hands on advance units of the iPhone 5 in 2012 and iPhone 6 in 2014 — both of which turned out to be the real deal.
This year’s iPhone, coming next month, is reported to have relatively few upgrades from last year’s iPhone 6s and the previous year’s iPhone 6. However, the dual-lens setup on the larger 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus could be enough to make the handset a “must have” for photography lovers.
The setup should give the (already impressive) iPhone camera system an added boost, making it superior for shooting in low-light situations. The advanced camera could also pull off a variety of other impressive photographic feats.
The question, of course, is whether that’s going to be enough to slow Apple’s declining iPhone sales — or whether we’re going to have the wait until next year’s 10th-birthday iPhone 8 for that trend to be reversed.
And, if we’re allowed one other question, who does Jimmy Lin know in Apple’s supply chain?
