iPads might seem the perfect device for government meetings (if only for a quick game of Angry Birds when things get boring), but not if you’re a member of the UK Cabinet.
Fearing that foreign intelligence agencies may have developed the means by which to turn mobile devices into surveillance bugs without their owner’s knowledge — thereby allowing them to listen in and record details from confidential meetings — security officials requested the removal of iPads from No. 10 Downing Street during a meeting last week. Government ministers have also been issued with soundproof lead-lined boxes, in which they are to place mobiles when having sensitive conversations.
Sounds like Apple’s security measures prior to the launch of a new product line.

Any device that can transmit a signal or record has been forbidden into classified buildings, meeting rooms and meetings in the USA since the dawn of time. Cell phones are completely forbidden. Notes that you take with pen and paper during TS or higher meetings are not allowed out of the room either prior to screening. Yes, it’s the UK.. But this is nothing new.. Nothing to see here. Move along..
