Slack added a trio of iPhone and iPad Home Screen widgets on Monday — the first ever for the popular team communication app.

Users can jump directly to unread messages or update their status with these widgets. Or even launch Slack directly from their Lock Screen.

Slack Home Screen widgets at last

Whether employees are in the office, working from home or in some other remote location, they can communicate with Slack. The application offers text chatting as well as voice and video calls.

And the software just got a bit easier to use: Monday brought Catch Up and Status Home Screen widgets that work on either iPhone or iPad.

The Catch Up widget shows the user how many unread messages and mentions they have. As it’s name indicates, it connects to Slack’s built-in Catch Up function.

Two other Home Screen widgets allow users set their status. One jumps directly to Status in the Slack app, while the other offers a pre-selected menu of status options.

And, as noted, users now have the option to jump straight into Slack from the Lock Screen without detouring through the Home Screen at all.

Slack Technologies, the developer, posted a video on X/Twitter to demonstrate the new features.

Slack is available on the App Store. Its basic feature are free to use, though high-end features must be paid for.
