The Satechi SM1 Slim Mechanical Backlit Bluetooth Keyboard offers a 75% layout with low-profile brown switches. It can connect with up to four computers, whether Mac, iPad, iPhone, Windows, etc.

The wired/wireless keyboard debuted at CES 2024, and is available now.

Smaller keyboards have become quite popular recently. Perhaps people recognize they don’t ever use the number pad. Or maybe all our desks are simply too crowded with junk. A 75% layout like the one on this new Satechi keyboard fits the standard keys into a compressed area.

Since it’s smaller than typical desktop keyboards, the Satechi SM1 Slim Mechanical Backlit Bluetooth Keyboard is designed to take up minimal space without interfering with usability. And it’s not light on features.

The mechanical, low-profile brown switches give a satisfying feel quite different from membrane keys.

“Designed to strike the perfect balance between typing and gaming, the keyboard’s brown switches boast a shorter travel distance that reduces finger fatigue and promotes a more comfortable typing experience,” promised Satechi. “They also offer a quieter operation, making them ideal for office environments or shared spaces.”

Plus, the keycaps are removable.

The keyboard comes with an adjustable white backlight that supports 14 different patterns. You can activate the backlight with a press of a key. And the keyboard’s aluminum enclosure includes feet for height adjustment.

It can pair via Bluetooth 5.0 to a pair of computers. A third can connect via a 2.4 GHz USB receiver, and a fourth employs wired mode. The user can switch between any of these at the press of a button, and the devices can run iOS, iPadOS, macOS, Windows OS or Google Chrome OS.

The keyboard runs on a rechargeable 2500mAh battery. Or you can power it via a USB-C port. The same port also works for recharging the keyboard and wired mode.
