Four of the top 10 most popular streaming series are all on Apple TV+, according to a market analysis. That’s a new milestone for Apple’s streaming service.
The list includes British spy thriller Slow Horses and Godzilla series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, as well as other shows that both audiences and critics like.
Slow Horses ranks among the most popular streaming shows
Apple TV+ puts quality over quantity, always emphasizing how many awards its films and series have won — while staying mum about its number of subscribers. It’s one of the smaller streaming services but nevertheless manages to frequently make shows that pull in big audiences. And not just Ted Lasso.
ReelGood’s list of Top 10 TV Shows on streaming during the week of December 7 through December 13 includes four from Apple, starting with Slow Horses in the No. 3 slot. Estimates from ReelGood and similar companies are necessary because Apple and other streaming services don’t reveal how many people tune into their films or series.
For those not already watching, Slow Horses stars Oscar winner Gary Oldman as a brilliant but world-weary cold warrior leading a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department for MI5. Each of the spies ended up together due to career-ending mistakes, but find new success under his tutelage.
Only FX’s Fargo and Hulu’s A Murder at the End of the World beat Slow Horses in this week’s streaming ratings from ReelGood. (Need more convincing? Read “3 reasons to watch Slow Horses, the acerbic Apple TV+ spy thriller.”)
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters also stomps on the popularity chart
After debuting last month, Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters consistently pulls in big audiences. And it ranked No. 5 on ReelGood’s list of top streaming TV shows last week. The sci-fi series stars the classic movie kaiju, with Godzilla putting in frequent appearances.
Monarch follows a family caught up in the events after Godzilla and two other titans destroyed San Francisco in the 2014 movie. The series stars the legendary Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell.

For All Mankind shoots to the top, too
Speaking of Apple TV+ sci-fi, the alternative-history space drama For All Mankind landed at No. 9 on ReelGood’s popularity chart last week.
This is the fourth season of the space-based soap opera, and the action has now moved beyond colonizing the moon and Mars and is headed for the asteroid belt.

Science shows Lessons in Chemistry draws big audiences
Unlike the other Apple TV+ entries on ReelGood’s top 10 chart series chart, Lessons in Chemistry already had its season finale. But viewers are still watching, putting the show at the No. 10 spot.
The romance drama stars Brie Larson as a scientist in the 1950s who has to find an alternative career because of men’s prejudice against women. She becomes a host on a TV cooking show and uses it to teach women about science.
Watch them all on Apple TV+
Apple’s streaming video service also includes much more, of course. There are dramas, comedies, science fiction, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.
