Cult of Mac‘s coverage of user computer setups shows lots and lots of people love Studio Displays. And tons of folks love dual-display setups. But two Studio Displays in a setup? You’d think we’d see more of those.
And today’s featured setup not only boasts dual Studio Displays, it sports two Macs — an M2 Mac mini and an M1 Pro MacBook Pro — in addition to a split mechanical keyboard and some 3D-printed parts.

Dual Studio Display MacBook Pro setup is a rare thing of beauty
Redditor strangeweather415 showcased the double-Studio Display setup in a post entitled, “So we’re doing dual Studio Display Setups?”
Well, Strange may be doing them, but we don’t see setups with two Studio Displays very often on social media. That’s probably because Studio Displays, while much less expensive than Apple’s premier Pro Display XDR at $5,000 or more, is still expensive, at about $1,600.
2 Studio Displays, 1 just-OK dual-display mount
Strange mounts his two Studio Displays on a “cheap” Vivo dual-display mount they found on Amazon. It’s not ideal.
“It’s actually my least favorite piece of equipment on the desk, but it works fine since I use one of them vertically,” they said. “If I wanted both landscape it would suck, the arms are horribly off level and there is no adjustment up and down.”
“I am considering moving each display to individual pole mounts but not in a hurry,” they added. “My main focus is on eliminating wobble and shaking, which this current mount does pretty well.”
We last covered a strangeweather415 setup back in February of this year, with a completely different, highly portable rig.

“My dual Studio Display setup split between my personal Mac mini M2 Pro and my work 16-inch M1 Pro [MacBook Pro],” Strange noted in describing his rig. “It is powered by a Sabrent Thunderbolt 4 KVM connected to my CalDigit TS4 [dock] and all the peripherals.”
You can see the Mac mini and docks mounted under the Fully Jarvis standing desk in the photograph.
Split mechanical keyboard
Strange’s keyboard is a rarely seen Kinesis Advantage 360 Pro split mechanical keeb (not cheap at about $450 and up). They use it with a Magic Trackpad 2 tucked in between the two halves of the keyboard.
“Excuse me sir, your keyboard seems to have broken,” a commenter joked.
“Snapped it in half and melted it in my insatiable desire to write Terraform code and review a bazillion dev PRs hah,” Strange replied.
3D-printed pieces

And his setup features some interesting 3D-printed touches.
“I had a 3D printed mount built for a MagSafe puck to occupy one of the desktop grommets, and on the one behind the vertical display I added a powered grommet for random stuff I need to plug in,” he said.
“This is setup makes me eager to come in and work in the morning,” he added. We’d be eager if we had two recent Macs and two Studio Displays, too.
Strange also rocks Sennheiser Momentum 3 over-ear headphones.
“I loved them when traveling a lot in the Before Times but I find myself using my AirPods Pro more day to day,” they said.

Not as good as the Pro Display XDR, but the 27-inch Apple Studio Display packs an impressive panel coupled with a six-speaker system and studio-quality microphones.
