Do you love animals, and the more exotic they are the better? Apple TV+ said Tuesday its two new documentary series “featuring the never-before-seen lives of the rarest animals on Earth” will come out soon.

The two series — Born to be Wild and Endangered Planet — consist of six parts apiece. But we’ll have to wait and see when they’ll air. We can probably expect trailers before too long.

2 new Apple TV+ documentary series coming soon: Born to be Wild and Endangered Planet

The two new series both focus on rare and endangered species and use cutting-edge technology, but they take different approaches.

Here’s how Apple TV+ described the two series:

[They offer] a remarkable view into the never-before-seen lives of the rarest animals on Earth, as the planet faces an unprecedented crisis with more than one million species on the brink of extinction.

Born to be Wild films six rare young animals for several years, as they are brought up in our world, but destined to return to theirs, to rewild their homelands and help save their species.

Endangered Planet follows a team of world-class filmmakers and scientists as they venture off the beaten path, capturing groundbreaking, often first-time footage of the planet’s most elusive species using cutting-edge technology, uncovering insights about how to help save and protect these critically endangered animals.

Born to be Wild

Each episode of Born to be Wild features a different animal. Filmmakers using the latest tracking technology and most-advanced cameras will follow a Savanna elephant calf, two young cheetahs, a ring-tailed lemur pup, a moon bear cub, Iberian lynx kits and orphaned African penguins from the day they’re born.

Then you’ll get to know the animals over the first few months of life and experience their release into “re-wilded” habitat.

Lucy van Beek (Wild Tales from the Farm, Stephen Hawking’s The Search for a New Earth, Britain from Above) executive produces the series for Tailfeather Productions, along with IDA Award nominee Alex Williamson (Earth At Night In Color, Earthsounds, Big Cats) and Isla Robertson (Earth At Night In Color, Last of the Giants, Animals At Play) for Offspring Films.

Endangered Planet

Calling it “one of the most ambitious wildlife series ever filmed,” Apple TV+ said Endangered Planet “explores our planet’s fragile ecosystems, unearthing clues about how to help save and protect the most precious endangered species.”

All of the series’ animals share one thing in common — fewer than one thousand of their species remain in the wild.

Filmmakers and scientists travel far and wide with cutting-edge technology to get viewers close to the animals. They include a Gobi bear, Malayan tiger, Javan rhino, Caucasian leopard, Cross River gorilla and the North Atlantic right whale.

As with Born to be Wild, Alex Williamson and Isla Robertson executive produce Endangered Planet for Offspring Films.
