For anyone who looked at the $3,500 price on the Apple Vision Pro and thought “that is so cheap,” Caviar has a version that’s over ten times as expensive. This specially modified AR headset is plated in gold and has a leather head strap.

Caviar even modified the design to make wearing the device a bit more private.

Custom-made Apple Vision Pro from Caviar adds pounds of luxury

Caviar is famous for its luxury gadgets, which typically contain precious metals, pricey jewels and fancy artwork. It has previously made solid gold AirPods, and a gold and diamond-encrusted iPhone that cost up to $120,000.

So when Apple unveiled the Vision Pro AR headset in early June, it’s no surprise that Caviar immediately went to work designing a luxury version. The device is already upscale, so the custom accessory maker had to pull out the stops.

“Drawing inspiration from the finest fashion accessories, such as Tom Ford’s flip-up glasses and Gucci ski masks, the company has transformed the Apple Vision Pro into a pinnacle of both technology and style,” the company announced. “This visionary device not only offers advanced features but also stands as a work of art, seamlessly blending into your personal space.”

Of course, part of the headset is covered in 18K gold. There’s 3.3 pounds of it, which could be a problem. Head-mounted devices that are too heavy quickly become uncomfortable.

The headsetrap is made of delicate yet durable Connolly leather. This is the same type used by Rolls-Royce. The leather is decorated with a pattern similar to the one used by Louis Vuitton.

Ordinarily, Caviar takes Apple products and layers on gold and other luxury materials. For the Vision Pro, it took the usual move of modifying the design a bit.

“While the public’s reaction to displaying the owner’s eyes on the external display has been mixed, Caviar has introduced an innovative solution,” the company explained. “With the Caviar version, users can now have complete control over their privacy, allowing them to decide when to reveal themselves.”

The modification takes the form of a flip-up visor that cover the screens displaying the wearer’s eyes (shown above). This is completely removable, which is fortunate as it will also add considerably to the wearable’s weight.

Start saving your pennies

As noted, Caviar’s luxury version of the Apple Vision Pro will cost $39,900. It will go on sale in autumn of 2024. Apple has yet to give a launch date for its AR headset other than some time in early 2024.

Caviar will produce only 24 of these gold-and-leather Vision Pro units.
