The sports games Retro Bowl+ and Retro Goal+ hit the Apple Arcade on Friday. And Bold Moves+ was added earlier in June. These are the latest classic games to make their way to the subscription service, and join many others already available.
This is in addition to all the original games that are Apple Arcade exclusives.
Many classic games become part of Apple Arcade
To beef up the number of games in its subscription service, Apple adds previously released titles and calls these App Store Greats. A “+” is added to the name, and the purchase price is $0.
Another difference between the new and the original version is that any in-app purchases have been stripped out. Apple Arcade doesn’t allow them. The same goes for ads, loot boxes and invasive player tracking.
Play some sports ball
In Retro Bowl+, players get to both play football and manage the team. That even includes conducting press conferences.
Retro Goal+ is similar except that the sport is soccer. Players manage the team, recruit athletes, and then take control on the pitch.
Both titles from New Star R&D look like the video games of old for that retro feel.
Or get inspired
Bold Moves+, the classic game added to Apple Arcade in early June, combines match-3 play with word puzzles and inspirational quotes. It’s intended to be challenging and positively relaxing.
“It’s no secret that I love sharing quotes with my friends, and Bold Moves presented by OWN is a new game that allows you to do just that — but with a twist: You have to solve a puzzle to unlock the inspirational words,” said Oprah Winfrey at the release of the original version of Bold Moves.
Play these now on Apple Arcade
These classic titles are playable on iPhone and iPad. Access to all three — and over 200 more — costs $4.99 a month. And one subscription works for up to six family members. As noted, there are never hidden costs in the games. In-app purchases are forbidden.
And these are in addition to all the original games created just for Apple Arcade. That includes Jet Dragon, a flying, racing game that emphasizes strategy, that debuted in mid June.
