Rose Byrne and Seth Rogen play a pair of friends having dual midlife crises in Platonic, a comedy series coming to Apple TV+ in May.
The Platonic trailer, released Wednesday, shows just how funny but destructive their friendship can be.
Platonic is not about constructive friendship
Apple TV+ offers some great half-hour comedies, like Ted Lasso, Shrinking and Mythic Quest. And the collection is about to grow with a show from a couple of comedy greats.
“Platonic follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift,” the streaming service says. “The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming — and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.”
Watch the trailer for an early look at the disastrous fun.
Rose Byrne also stars in the Apple TV+ comedy Physical, and before that she appeared in movies like Bridesmaids and Insidious. Seth Rogen starred in Knocked Up, and these days does a lot of voice work, such as in Invincible. Also in the cast of the upcoming comedy are Luke Macfarlane, Tre Hale, Andrew Lopez and Carla Gallo.
The series was directed and co-written by Nick Stoller and Francesca Delbanco.
Get ready to laugh
Platonic is set to make its global debut on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, on Apple TV+. Three episodes will premiere that day, followed by seven more each week, every Wednesday.
Watching will come with a $6.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s streaming video service. That same fee also brings access to all the other original TV shows and movies on the service, like Schmigadoon!, The Afterparty, The Big Door Prize, Bad Sisters and Trying.
