Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist challenges players to solve mysteries by finding clues. The story-driven hidden-objects game debuted on Apple Arcade on Friday.

It’s the latest addition to Apple’s gaming service, which adds a new title almost every week.

Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist is made for Whovians

When the game starts, London has been transformed by a mysterious blue cloud. The people are missing and buildings have been replaced with version from the distant past or the far future. It’s up to the Doctor and her trusty companion Yaz to discover what’s happening.

As a hidden-objects game, the goal of Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist is to, well, find hidden objects before the clock runs out. It’s relaxing but can also be challenging, especially as the puzzles get more difficult.

Long-time fans of Doctor Who will enjoy that many of the objects in the game relate to previous Doctors going back to the 1960s. And there are classic villains, too.

Beyond the original storyline, there’s be new events in the game each each week offering time-limited challenges with unique rewards.

Jump in the TARDIS and go

Doctor Who: An Unlikely Heist found its way onto Apple Arcade on Friday. It’s playable on Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. External game controllers are an option for any of the supported platforms.

It was published by Tilting Point, which also brought Star Trek: Legends to Apple Arcade… and sci-fi fans.

Recent additions to the service include Osmos+, extreme hydrojet racing in Riptide GP: Renegade+, the destructive fun of Castle Crumble and Squiggle Drop.

All these games and about 200 more are playable with a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s gaming service. A family can share a subscription, and there are never irritating requests for in-app purchases or questionable loot boxes — these are banned.
