Amazon’s latest deal drops the iPad 10’s price to a much more reasonable $399, a sweet $50 off its retail price. This is the lowest price the tablet has been available for since its launch.
At $449, the new 10.9 iPad occupies an odd place in the iPad lineup. A $50 discount makes it easier to justify the higher price tag.
iPad 10 packs a bigger display, faster chip, and a higher price tag
Announced in October 2022, the iPad 10 features a larger 10.9-inch screen, a USB-C port, and a faster A14 Bionic chip. The design has also been updated, with the chassis featuring flat edges similar to the iPad Air and iPad Pro.
Interestingly, the iPad 10 is the only iPad in Apple’s lineup to feature a 12MP Ultra Wide camera in landscape orientation. This makes it an ideal device for video calling, especially since it supports Center Stage.
However, these improvements come at a cost, with the 2022 iPad carrying a retail price of $449. That’s a steep $120 increase over the 10.2-inch iPad.
At its full price, the iPad 10 is only $100 cheaper than the M1 iPad Air. However, the latter is frequently discounted by $70-$80, which narrows the price gap between the two even more. This puts the iPad 10 in a weird position in Apple’s lineup. You should either save money and get the entry-level 10.2-inch iPad for $329 or spend extra and get the $549 M1 iPad Air. After a $50 discount, you can get the iPad 10 for $399. That’s a lot more sensible price for the tablet, given its specs and features. The discounted price makes it an excellent alternative to the entry-level 10.2-inch iPad. For the extra $70 that you pay, you get an iPad with a bigger display, a faster chip, and more features.
