Known for camera-rig and lighting hardware, SmallRig released its new, portable Forevala W60 wireless microphone system this week.

That gives podcasters and other content creators a new option for quality audio on the go.

SmallRig Forevala W60 2-Person Compact Wireless Microphone System (2.4GHz)

SmallRig’s brand-new Forevala W60 system will go to-to-toe with similar ones at similar price points, about $200. That includes the Røde Wireless Go II microphone system. But the Røde comes in one-receiver and two-receiver options.

SmallRig’s system comes with two transmitters and a receiver in a travel case, ideal for use in casual interview situations. And you can purchase a lavalier mic separately and add that to the mix, creating more placement options.

The Forever W60 offers dual-channel, low-latency wireless audio transmission with a signal range of up to 100m. That would line-of-site, with no obstacles in the way.

Like similar mic setups, it features a high-performance omnidirectional condenser microphone for high-definition recording. Low-cut functionality eliminates low-frequency noise below 200Hz to make audio output sound more pure.

Using it, you can switch between mono and stereo. Stereo recording and sound reproduction enhance post-editability, SmallRig said. You can mute with a quick press of the power button.

A nifty gain-adjustment feature give you handy access to input and output volume on the receiver, so you don’t have to access software.

The sytem’s battery life from a single chart is rated at 8 hours.

You can charge the transmitters and receiver while they’re stored by connecting the carrying case to power via USB-C or a provided USB-A cable.

Price: $199
