HEROish from Sunblink challenges layers to, “(almost) save the world and (kind of) look good while doing it.” The latest addition to Apple Arcade offers single-player adventures, but it’s also player-versus-player deck-building tower defense game.
The fantasy-themed title is available now for a variety of Apple computers, including iPhone and Mac.
HEROish offers both quests and tower defense
HEROish starts off with three single-player adventures. Sunblink promises “campy storytelling, sweeping musical scores, and hand-crafted environments.”
Players can choose from six characters, like Flynn the Paladin who wields a huge hammer and epic hair with equal skill.
But HEROish is also a tower defense game that offers 1v1 or 2v2 matches. “Players can build custom decks and upgrade cards to create monstrous combinations of troops and spells as they aim to defeat their opponents, destroy the Soul Gem that gives them power, and move to the top of the leaderboards,” says Sunblink.
The game was developed by a team of industry veterans brought together by Julian Farrior, who previously founded Backflip Studios. His previous games include DragonVale and Army of Darkness: Defense.
Now on Apple Arcade
HEROish by Sunblink is now available to download and play from the Apple Arcade section of the Apple Store. It’s for 1 to 4 players, and there are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. No matter the platform, an external game controller is an option.
The game comes with a subscription to Apple Arcade. It’s $4.99-a-month but includes about 200 titles, and a family can share a subscription. Plus, players can be assured that there are zero in-app purchases, ads or loot boxes.
