A docuseries about an NBA hopeful determined to take control of his journey premieres on Apple TV+ on April 22. The Long Game: Bigger Than Basketball tells the story of how Makur Maker, a five-star NBA prospect, ended up at Howard University.

A new trailer for the upcoming series gives an early look at his inspirational story.

The Long Game: Bigger Than Basketball is about much more than sports

Makur Maker was headed to the draft, and his prospects looked very good, especially as he’s the cousin of two NBA players. But he took an unexpected detour to Howard University instead. This historically Black university hasn’t made it to the NCAA Tournament since 1992.

At Howard, his life didn’t go as expected, including having to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The docuseries, directed by Seth Gordon (“For All Mankind, Undefeated, The King of Kong) follows Maker has he has to meet these difficulties with the help of his tight-knit support system.

Apple TV+ posted the trailer for The Long Game: Bigger Than Basketball on Twitter.

The five-part documentary series with Makur Maker’s inspiring story premieres on Apple TV+ on Friday, April 22.
