Disney is taking many of its classic characters in a darker direction with Disney Mirrorverse, an RPG for mobile devices. Alternate-reality versions of these screen icons will have to team up face a “dark, unrelenting threat.”
Disney revealed Monday that the game will launch June 23. There’s also a trailer to whet players’ appetites.
Disney Mirrorverse is a whole new world. A violent one.
The trailer shows this is hardly Goofy Learns to Tie His Shoes. As the narration says, “Beyond the worlds familiar to you there exists another born of powerful stellar magic. A universe reflected from the familiar, yet different. Perilous. The Mirrorverse.”
Disney says, “players will assemble a team of powerful Guardians that have been exclusively crafted and imagined for the Mirrorverse. Unrelenting forces threaten to take over this alternate reality, and players must get ready for battle, defeat an evil threat, and embark on a journey to defend the Mirrorverse.”

There will be versions of Disney Mirrorverse for iPhone and Android. As noted, the RPG is scheduled to launch June 23, 2022. Those interested can preregister at disneymirrorverse.com.
