Benjamin Franklin once wrote that nothing in this world is a certainty, “except death and taxes.” If he were alive today, he might add “and the Apple Store going down before a big keynote” to that list.

“Be right back” reads the message that greets visitors who attempt to purchase anything through Apple’s website this morning. When it returns, we expect a whole bunch of new additions, including iPhone 13.

Apple Store goes down

Apple typically takes its online store offline ahead of a major keynote. It’s a telltale sign that the company is gearing up to introduce new things. And thanks to many months of leaks, we have a good idea what those things will be.

iPhone 13 is expected to be the star of today’s “California streaming” event, closely followed by Apple Watch Series 7. Apple is also planning to announce a much-anticipated third-generation AirPods refresh, recent reports claim.

One tipster says Cupertino could also surprise us with a ninth-generation iPad that packs and larger display and a faster processor. And there could be other unexpected tricks up Tim Cook’s sleeve.
