OWC built Thunderbolt into the new Envoy Pro SX to make the portable drive fast and reliable. And don’t worry if you spill coffee on the SSD — it can take the punishment.

It’s available with up to 2TB of storage, isn’t bulky, and requires no fan.

“Listening to our customer’s suggestions from the Envoy Pro EX model, we made sure to add a detachable Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 cable, and while we were at it, we made it a smaller form factor and even more rugged by adding IP67,” said Larry O’Connor, CEO and Founder of OWC.

Envoy Pro SX is blazing fast

OWC promises the SSD offers real-world data transfer speeds up to 2847 MBps. That makes it suited for video, photography, audio and general data storage or backup uses.

The Envoy Pro SX gets its power from the Thunderbolt cable. And it’s compatible with Macs, iPads and PCs with a USB-C port, even if they don’t have Thunderbolt.

It’s ready for the real world. In testing, the peripheral survived being dropped 25 times at every angle from a height of four feet. And it’s water resistant for up to 30 minutes at under 1 meter.

The OWC Envoy Pro SX launched Thursday on the OWC website. Prices start at $199 for the 240GB version and go up top $529 for the 2TB one.
