Ahead of the second season of hit comedy Ted Lasso debuting on Apple TV+ on July 23, Apple has debuted a new promo video that’s part trailer and part behind-the-scenes video.

However, rather than telling viewers about how the show is made (which, let’s face it, in promo featurettes is pretty much just every cast member saying how great every other cast member is), the new video — titled “Ted Lasso — The Lasso Way” — reflects on the show’s positive message.

The cast members talk about why positivity is so importance, and how they’ve heard from viewers who have been touched by the themes the show explores. Check it out below.

The fact that Ted Lasso has a real heart to it is one of the things people have most responded to. You’d hope, or expect, for a comedy to be funny. But to find one that’s also touching is a whole lot more unusual.

Ted Lasso on Apple TV+

Apple has yet to reveal exact viewing figures for any of its Apple TV+ shows. Since Apple TV+ lags behind giants like Netflix and Disney+, and viewing figures would therefore look comparatively paltry, that seems unlikely to change. But Ted Lasso has managed to appeal to both critics and fans. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a critical score of 91%, based on 65 reviews. Its audience score, meanwhile, is 97%, based on 696 reviews.

Since its debut in summer 2020, Ted Lasso has picked up Screen Actors Guild Awards, Critics Choice Awards, Writers Guild Awards, Golden Globes and AFI Television Program of the Year.

The complete first season is currently available for Apple TV+ subscribers to enjoy. Apple TV+ costs $4.99 per month, although Apple One bundle subscribers can get it more cheaply as part of a package of Apple services.
