Apple TV+ on Wednesday promised a third season of the comedy series Trying. And it announced the second season of the show about a couple undergoing the herculean trials of adopting a child will debut worldwide in mid-May.

Season one premiered on Apple’s streaming service on spring 2020, and the British comedy was well received. RottenTomatoes reports it has an 87% approval score among critics a 92% audience score.

Trying season 2 continues the strange difficulties of adoption

The half-hour sitcom tells the story of a British couple who want to have a child together, but are incapable of conceiving. As a result, they set out to try and adopt.

In Trying season two, they’ve been approved by the adoption panel, but find that matching with a child is not as straightforward as they had hoped. It seems like children are being snapped up by other couples while somehow they’re being left behind.

Esther Smith and Rafe Spall return to star as Nikki and Jason. And Imelda Staunton is back as their eccentric social worker Penny.

The complete first season of Trying is available now to stream on Apple TV+. And season two is scheduled to start Friday, May 14. New episodes will premiere weekly, every Friday. There’s no word yet on when season three will debut.

More Apple TV+ comedies ready to stream

Watching requires a $4.99-per-month subscription, but Apple’s streaming service also offers a collection of thrillers, crime dramas, sci-fi, documentaries and much more. And there are plenty of comedies  Ted Lasso keeps pulling in awards, while Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet offers humor for gamers. The animated musical comedy series Central Park was recently renewed for a third season.

Lots more are in development, like a sci-fi comedy starring Andy Samberg or a parody of 1940s musicals called Schmigadoon that premieres summer of 2021.
