As part of its education initiatives, Apple has launched a new “professional learning recognition badge” called Apple Teacher Portfolio that educators can earn using the Apple Teacher Learning Center.

Apple Teacher is a free professional learning program for educators who use Apple products as part of their teaching. The Apple Teacher Portfolio gives teachers 21 templates and lesson ideas and plans. These suggest how teachers can enhance lessons using apps like Keynote, GarageBand, and iMovie.

“For more than 40 years, Apple has worked alongside educators and made products that enhance learning for every student,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations and Product Marketing for Enterprise and Education, in a statement. “To support schools in getting the most from Apple products, we developed professional learning as an essential part of our education offering. The new Apple Teacher Portfolio helps build educators’ confidence in reimagining their lessons and recognizes them for the great work they do every day. After this unprecedented year, we want to continue to inspire every educator as much as they inspire us.”

Improving Apple’s educational tools

According to Apple, the journal-like Apple Teacher Portfolio offers a “compilation of [teachers’] most creative and engaging lessons, a body of work ready to share with leadership and peers.”

In addition, there are new updates across Apple’s Everyone Can Create curriculum. For example, Apple has updated the Drawing guide to include motion graphics and animation in Keynote. Meanwhile, Photos now covers the creation of animated GIFs using Keynote, as well as the Camera and Photos apps.

Apple Teacher Portfolio is available starting today through the Apple Teacher Learning Center. The updated Everyone Can Create guides are available as a free download on Apple Books.
