Apple gave developers early access to iOS 14.3 on Tuesday, which will bring ProRAW support to the iPhone 12 Pro models. Plus, it and the iPad equivalent will give everyone more information about the privacy practices of the apps they use.
Apple also seeded to devs the release candidates for watchOS 7.2 and tvOS 14.3 on Tuesday.
What’s new in iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3
The official release notes for the new iPhone operating system update say, “iOS 14.3 includes support for Apple Fitness+ and AirPods Max. This release also adds the ability to capture photos in Apple ProRAW on iPhone 12 Pro, introduces Privacy information on the App Store, and includes other features and bug fixes for your iPhone.“ The iPadOS 14.3 notes are essentially identical.
Support for AirPods Max means iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 should be available to everyone on or before Tuesday, December 15, the date the newly-announced over-the-ear headphones start reaching customers’ hands.
And ProRAW support is important to shutterbugs with either iPhone 12 Pro version. It combines Apple’s computational photography capabilities with the RAW format.
After this update, the App Store will provide more information about the privacy practices of applications. This will let users check whether third-party software tracks them, and what their information will be used for, before they download the app.
Those part of the Apple Developer Program can download the iOS 14.2 Release Candidate, as well as the iPadOS 14.2 Release Candidate today.
And watchOS 7.2, tvOS 14.3
Developers also got their mitts on the watchOS 7.2 Release Candidate. The highlight of this is also support for Apple Fitness+, a just-announced workout service built around Apple Watch.
tvOS 14.3 Release Candidate was seeded to developers as well, enabling them to test the latest Apple TV system software.
