Apple today released a small “bug fix” update for iPhones. iOS 14.2.1 takes care of problem that caused the iPhone 12 mini’s touchscreen to not always respond on the Lock Screen. A couple of other small problems were taken care of too.

In an unusual move, there is no iPadOS equivalent for this update. It’s iPhone only.

Apple’s release notes for the new version list the problems it takes care of:

iOS 14.2.1 addresses the following issues for your iPhone:

    • Lock Screen could become unresponsive on iPhone 12 mini

Available to all

iOS 14.2.1 is available to recent iPhone models. All that’s necessary to install it is connect your handset to a Mac (or a Windows PC running iTunes). Alternatively, an over-the-air update is also possible. That’s accomplished by opening the Settings app and going to General > Software Update.

This bug-fix update comes two weeks after the debut of iOS 14.2, which brought in over 100 new emoji, new wallpapers and Shazam music recognition integrated into the Control Center. And Apple on Thursday released a modified version of version 14.2 just for iPhone 12 users.

Apple has already begun beta testing iOS 14.3.
