Filming of Invasion, an ambitious alien invasion series for Apple TV+, is reportedly back on. It halted in March at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, but production resumed in the UK last week.

It’s been called “a large budget, ambitious, character driven genre show” by Deadline, and the cast includes Sam Neill.

Invasion should be capturing Apple TV+ soon

Invasion is being filmed in New York, Manchester, Morocco and Japan, according to Deadline. Filming in some locations already took place.

Neill, best known for the Jurassic Park series, plays a rural lawman in the series. He’s joined by Shamier Anderson as a soldier stationed in Afghanistan. Firas Nassar and Golshifteh Farahani will portray Syrian immigrants living in New York. And Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool 2) will be part of Japan’s space program. The series will show the titular invasion through their eyes.

The 10-episode sci-fi series was co-created by Simon Kinberg, who wrote many of the X-Men movies. It’s not known when Invasion will debut on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ starts to recover from COVID-19

This is apparently the second Apple series resuming production, as filming for the second season of For All Mankind also reportedly restarted last week. The status of the other series in production for Apple’s video streaming service is currently unknown.

COVID-19 halted all production in March for the Isaac Asimov sci-fi series Foundation, the Stephen King miniseries Lisey’s Story, as well as the second seasons of the sci-fi drama See, the TV drama The Morning Show, and the psychological horror series Servant.
